Pick lists are a powerful way to organize the organization’s standardized allowed metadata to be presented on a submission table. Users are able to select field values from a predetermined list which adds convenience in the submission process and provides consistent metadata values for accurate and cleaner reporting.

For more information about Submissions, please read the Submissions Overview document.

  2. Click Pick Lists in the Elements Sub-Navigation menu.
    The Pick Lists page displays.

You can review the following information about lists from the Pick Lists view:

    • Name
    • Created Date
    • Type
    • Description

The sort feature is available for all columns. You can sort all columns in ascending or descending order.

  3. Enter the Name of Pick List and Description in the designated fields.
We recommend entering a description to make it easier to determine the use of the Pick List.

  4. Select which Pick List Type you want to create.
    Options are:

    Type Description
    Drop Down

A Drop Down list lets you display a single-column list of values for users to select from.
    Example: Paid Search Source
    google
    bing
    yandex
    baidu
    yahoo
    Dependent

A Dependent list consists of 2 or more columns. The selection of the first column determines the defaulted values in the remaining columns (in other words, the values in columns 2+ are dependent on the user selecting a value from column 1).
Example: Social Platform Name, Social Platform Abbreviation

Social Platform Name Social Platform Abbreviation
    facebook FB
    instagram IG
    pinterest PT
    twitter TW
    snapchat SC

Drill Down A Drill Down list defines multiple levels of structured information. As a user makes their selection in column 1, the options presented in column 2 will only display values filtered by the selection in column 1. Each subsequent column is further narrowed by the previous selection.
    Example: Region, Country, Agency
    Region Country Agency
    APAC Australia Agency 1
    APAC China Agency 2
    APAC China Agency 4
    APAC Thailand Agency 3
    EMEA England Agency 5
    EMEA England Agency 6
    EMEA England Agency 7
    EMEA France Agency 6
    NA Canada Agency 7
    NA United States Agency 1
    NA United States Agency 5
    NA United States Agency 7

A Drill Down pick list represents all possible permutations.
  5. It is recommended to rename each column for easy reference (e.g. Column 1=Social Platforms, Column 2=Social Platforms Abbreviation). Right-click the column header to rename the column.

  6. Click Save.
