Use the Data Standards for Excel Add-In to seamlessly import your Claravine platform templates into Excel. You can now input data while leveraging Excel's powerful suite of tools. Your data is automatically validated against the data standards you already defined. Once it's validated, you can effortlessly submit your data from Excel directly back to your datasets in Claravine’s platform for further management and to be exported downstream.

Data Standards for Excel Add-In is available for the desktop and browser versions of Excel:

Excel Add-In Constraints
Following are the constraints on the current version of the Excel Add-In. Development work will continue to reduce limitations with future releases.
- Template names cannot contain the following characters because these characters are not supported as sheet names in Excel:

- Submissions must be limited to 500 rows.
- The add-in doesn’t support Claravine AI features (Content Comprehension, Content ID).
- The add-in is using OAuth for user logins. Clients with certain kinds of SSO login may face longer than usual configuration times before they can use the excel add-in.
Install Excel Add-In

Install Excel Add-In: Web Browser
- Open Excel's web application and create a blank workbook.
- In the Add-ins tab, click More Add-ins.
- Click My add-ins and select Upload My Add-in.
- Select the manifest file from above and click Upload.
- Select the Data Standards for Excel Add-In.
If the side panel does not immediately appear, click Import Template on the upper left side of the page. - Select Import Template on the upper left side.
- A new side menu for the add-in displays on the right. Enter your Claravine subdomain (this is the same as the URL you use to login to Claravine: [subdomain].claravine.com), and click Go to Sign In.
- Login using the same username/password or SSO inputs as you use to access Claravine.
- A new Claravine tab displays in the menu bar for the add-in. In this new tab, click Import Template.
Use Excel Add-In
- Select Claravine in the menu bar and click Import Template.
- Select a template from the right-side menu and let the fields auto-populate into a new sheet. This may take around 10 seconds.
- Start adding data to the Excel sheet.
List fields will offer list value selection drop-downs. - If an entered value isn’t included in a list, error notifications display .
- To submit data into your dataset, right-click and select Submit Worksheet to Claravine.
- The Status column (Column A) displays the submission status value "Submitting" while the submission is processing.
- Successful submissions display the Status value "OK" for all submitted rows once the submission is complete.
- Errored submissions display the Status value "Error" for rows with errored data. The errored cells are highlighted in red.
The red cell highlights may take around 15 seconds to display once a submission is processed. Clicking on the errored cell displays a message indicating the reason for the error. - The Claravine ID for a row can be referenced by clicking on the Status cell for that row.
- Errored data can be corrected and resubmitted. When a row of previously submitted data is edited the status will change to Edited.
- The Status column (Column A) displays the submission status value "Submitting" while the submission is processing.
- To validate that data was successfully submitted, navigate to your dataset to view the new rows of data. A new successful submission will also be included in your submissions list view.
Possible Statuses
The possible values for Status are as follows:
